Thibaut Courtois Real Madrid

Thibaut Courtois left Chelsea in the summer of 2018 in order to return back to Madrid and join the Los Blancos after trying to make the swift for several transfer windows.

And after failing to impress in his first season in Spain, the keeper has really shone for Real Madrid during the current campaign – having already kept 15 clean sheets in just 32 games.

Last season there were a number of experts who thought that Chelsea had done the right thing by offloading Thibaut Courtois at the right time.

But now that Kepa Arrizabalaga has been constantly underperforming for Chelsea this season, the tide seems to have turned.

And now, the Belgian international has taken a sly dig at Chelsea by comparing his former side with Real Madrid.

“In training, you see that the level is high. I am now experiencing on a daily basis that Sergio Ramos is the best centre-back in the world,” Courtois previously told Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad, as quoted by Football London.

“The level [at Real Madrid] is higher than at Chelsea. [The Bernabeu is] twice as big [as Stamford Bridge], of course, it’s a very different feeling.

“If you look forward, you only see a wall of people, while at Stamford Bridge you can still see the sky or the hotel behind the grandstand.”

While Thibaut Courtois has settled down really well at the Bernabeu, Chelsea have been having real problems with Kepa Arrizabalaga and as per reports, the Blues are looking to offload the Spanish keeper and bring in a new No 1 in the summer.
