The 2018-19 season of the Premier League kicks off next week and after a landslide victory last season, Manchester City will be hoping to repeat that.

Most of the pundits and the fans are placing their bets on Pep Guardiola’s side to defend their Premier League title but not everyone thinks that the Blue Half of Manchester can replicate their feat from last season.

Two-time Premier League winner Dimitar Berbatov claims that City will not be able to finish even second at the end of the 2018-19 season.

The striker has instead predicted that his former side Manchester United will lift the trophy.

Talking to Betfair, Berbatov said: “The top four will be the same as last season but in this order – Manchester United, Spurs, Manchester City, and Liverpool,

“I was going to say Chelsea because of the ‘new manager’ effect, the team start to perform better especially the first couple of matches but I think Liverpool will finish above them because they’ve bought more talented players, so I’ll stick to the same four as last year.”

The former United man has also claimed that Paul Pogba will finally show what he is capable of this season after a successful World Cup with France.

“Coming from experience as a former footballer, Paul Pogba will start to see things getting easier for him now he has the confidence of being winning the World Cup,” Berbatov added.

“On the pitch, you can have the feeling that everything is happening for you, from passing to tackles. This should give him more momentum in the Premier League but he needs to stay strong.

“Sometimes self-esteem affects you on and off the pitch until you face your next game and you miss an easy chance, for example, then you feel not as great. However, he will be a world champion for life, now he needs to be a league winner. Top players at Old Trafford know how to be winners.”

While a number of the former players think that City will find it hard to defend their title but not many people have placed their bets on Manchester United to win the league this time around.
