Gary Neville on Man City

Manchester United finally have a right-back(Diogo Dalot) who can cross a ball.

The Red Devils had been spoiled for close to two decades with the fantastic abilities of Gary Neville – a player who during his prime was one of the best right-backs in European football.

But ever since Neville retired, Man United have found it really hard to replace him and during the past couple of seasons, it was Antonio Valencia who was playing at right-back even though he joined the club as an out and out winger.

The fans had been urging the club to find a young and talented right-back who will remain at the club for a long period of time.

And it seems that Jose Mourinho has finally made the breakthrough in the form of Diogo Dalot.

Ever since Mourinho signed Diogo Dalot during the summer, the manager had been bragging about his talents and we finally managed to see what the young Portuguese is capable of during United’s 4-1 win over Fulham.

And now speaking about Dalot, Jose Mourinho has chosen to compare him with Man United’s legend Gary Neville.

Jose Mourinho said: “Everybody knows that he has fantastic potential.

“I don’t want to compare, especially not the number of titles but he is probably the same age as Gary Neville when he came into the first team.

“Probably he can follow Neville in this dynamic of more than 10 years as United’s right-back, with amazing conditions to improve, because as I was saying he’s 19 years old.”

There is still a long way to go before Diogo Dalot plays regularly for Manchester United but with him at right-back and Luke Shaw at left-back, Man United seem to have finally replaced both Neville and Patrice Evra.
