Chelsea eyeing a move for this 24 Y/O centre-forward: Perfect alternative to Haaland?

Goodison Park Everton FC

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel wants to sign a new centre-forward for the upcoming season and as per the latest rumours, the Blues have shown an interest in Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has become one of the best goalscorers in the Premier League over the past few years and during the 2020-21 season, he netted 16 goals in 33 league matches for the Toffees.

And according to Journalist Ekrem Konur, Chelsea are keeping an eye on DCL should they fail to sign Erling Haaland.

He wrote on Twitter: “Dissatisfied with Tammy Abraham and Batshuayi, Tuchel asked for the transfer of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, with the exception of Erling Haaland.

“There have been no formal talks with Everton yet but talks are expected to begin soon.”

Time and again Borussia Dortmund have made it clear that they do not wish to sell Haaland this summer but somehow Chelsea are refusing to give up.

The Blues believe they will be able to break BVB’s resolve and agree on a deal for the Norwegian international.

But if they don’t manage to pull off this deal then Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be a great alternative.

Recent rumours claimed that after Ancelotti’s departure, the Everton management will not resist the sale of the 24-year-old if a right offer comes in. So if Chelsea are ready to spend £130-40 million on Erling Haaland then they can surely afford Calvert-Lewin.

DCL is valued at £40.50 million as per TransferMarkt but since he has four more years left on his contract, Everton are going to quote an absurd transfer fee.

It’s still unclear how this will pan out but there’s no doubt the England international will fit in perfectly at Stamford Bridge.
