Premier League clubs Chelsea and Manchester United are both looking to sign Edinson Cavani from PSG this month – as per reports.

Frank Lampard has already talked positively about making a move for the Uruguayan centre-forward saying: ‘There’s nothing absolutely imminent.

‘We’re looking but there’s nothing to tell you that might happen right away. Cavani is a great player.

“I played against him and always loved his mentality and attitude, and obviously his goalscoring record speaks for itself. I’m not aware of his situation so we’ll see.

‘He’s an experienced player but so are many other players out there. We are young as a squad and we know about the transition so the idea of bringing in experience is something I’m certainly not looking absolutely away from because sometimes the younger players need a bit of help and that may help us.’

Shortly after this statement, there have been reports that the Blues have approached PSG in the hopes of signing Cavani on a short-term loan deal.

And as per the latest rumours, even Manchester United have now entered the race to sign the 32-year-old after the injury to Marcus Rashford.

While these two clubs still remain the frontrunners to signing Edinson Cavani this month but it looks like Atletico Madrid have also set their sights on the forward.

As per reports, Diego Simeone has urged his board to make a move for the South American and as a result, Atletico might try and sign the striker in a permanent deal this month.

It still remains to be seen as to which club Edinson Cavani chooses but what we have learnt so far is that both Manchester United and Chelsea are eager to sign him on a short-term deal whereas Atletico want to buy him permanently.

And this is where the La Liga club might hold a key advantage since PSG would want to get a transfer fee if possible or else they would have to let Cavani leave as a free agent at the end of the current season.
