Manchester United’s situation is getting from bad to worse since, alongside Paul Pogba, striker Edinson Cavani has also picked up an injury.

Pogba picked up a thigh injury during a training session with France while Cavani’s tendon injury has been troubling him for some time.

The South American told Uruguayan newspaper El Observador, as quoted by Manutd.com: “The issue was like this. Before starting the season, I had discomfort in the tendon.

“It made me spend a couple of weeks out until I began to gain some minutes [on the pitch] in my team. I had to go back to the national team, always with a bit of pain, but with the hope that it would disappear.

“It was improving but, after Tottenham, it started coming back.

“They are difficult injuries. And I decided to have the treatment so that it does not continue to get worse, and to recover as soon as possible to be fit for my team and the national team.”

Edinson Cavani injury: How many games will he miss?

While nothing official has come out of Manchester United but the early reports are suggesting that Cavani will be out of action until the first week of December.

And if this is true then United could be under a lot of pressure.

Apart from Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani is the only other world-class striker in the squad and if he’s not available for so long then Ole will have a serious rotation issue.

Right after the international break, Man United face Watford and then they have some key games against clubs like Villarreal, Chelsea and Arsenal.

Cavani has recently been used alongside Ronaldo in a 3-5-2 system but now that he is injured, that plan has gone down the drain. Also, the tactics will depend on whether Ole remains the manager or not.

Ronaldo is in the twilight of his career so there’s no way he will be able to play week in week out. But with Edinson Cavani on the sidelines, the Man United boss will have to rely on either Martial or Greenwood to backup CR7.

Teams like Chelsea and Arsenal have been in peak form in the previous few months and with someone like Cavani on the recovery table, these sides will have one less thing to worry about.
