Manchester United take on Newcastle United in the Premier League right after the international break and forward Edinson Cavani will be available for selection.

The South American was supposed to be joining the Uruguay national team squad during the break meaning he was set to miss a series of league matches due to all the quarantine rules.

The EPL clubs have decided not to release players for international matches in red-list countries meaning Man United would have been under huge pressure had Edinson Cavani moved out of the UK.

But now according to the latest update, Uruguay have cancelled the forward’s name from the squad meaning he will remain with the Man United team during the break.

An official statement read: “Manchester United forward Edinson Cavani is set to remain in England during the international break, after his call-up for the Uruguay squad was withdrawn.

“Premier League clubs unanimously decided not to release players for international matches played in red-list countries in September, a decision thought to affect almost 60 players in the division.

“The Uruguayan Football Association now seems to have taken this statement into account, cancelling Cavani’s inclusion in the squad. He was the only England-based player selected by Tabarez.”

The availability of Edinson Cavani will be a huge boost for Manchester United but now that Ronaldo has arrived, Ole will not be too worried.

Or at least that’s what some people might believe.

But since Manchester United play in the Champions League just three days after the Newcastle United game, squad rotation will play a big part for Manchester United.

Now with Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani both available for selection, Solskjaer should be able to rotate his forward players very efficiently. Ronaldo is expected to make his return against Newcastle United with Cavani watching from the bench. But the roles will be reversed when United face Young Boys in the UCL on 14th September.
