The season’s first North London Derby was everything that it was touted to be.

We saw six goals, one penalty and one red card but most of that was against Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs.

Jan Vertonghen gave away a penalty in the first half and they just as Spurs were trying to go in search of the winner, the defender was sent for a second yellow card offence.

While most of the people watching the game saw the goal and the shuffle the players go into. But what many missed was a pathetic racial taunt for a Spurs fan.

Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang scored the first goal of the game from the penalty spot and it came infront of the travelling Spurs supporters. And when the Gabon international was busy celebrating someone from the crowd threw a banana skin onto the pitch.

This incident has caused a fair bit of uproar and the culprit has since been arrested.

Spurs have also come out to condemn the whole incident indicating to the fact that the fan is likely to receive a ban.

“Behaviour such as this is completely unacceptable and the supporter in question will be issued with a ban,” a Tottenham spokesman said.

Former Arsenal player Ian Wright also chose to slam the whole incident claiming that a single fan has turned the whole rivalry into a racist issue.

“I’ve played against Spurs and I’ve taken a lot of abuse from Spurs but never ever has it been racial,” Ian Wright said.

“Now Spurs have to deal with this because some idiot has done that.

“It’s not only embarrassed Spurs but it has embarrassed the Premier League because it has gone around the world, and now Spurs have to deal with that and have that tainting all over them. It’s really unfortunate to see.”

Reports reveal there were six arrests made during the derby and atleast two of them were Arsenal fans who were charged for lighting smoke cans inside the stadium.
