The EPL is the toughest league in Europe for a reason since as many as five clubs are currently fighting it out for a single(or maybe two) Champions League position on the table.

Man City and Liverpool are fighting it out to be crowned the champions and then there are the others who are looking to remain in the top-four. Man City have a very handsome lead at the top of the table and if Liverpool can win their games in hand then they too will open up a considerable gap for the second spot.

Right before the international break, Manchester United had managed to move into the top-four by dethroning West Ham United and according to Joe Cole, the Old Trafford outfit are the current favourites to play in the top-tier of Europe next season.

“Spurs brought in a couple of players who were struggling to get into what I consider a poor, for their standards, Juventus team,” Joe Cole told Coral, as quoted.

“I have watched them a few times this year and covered two live games and they’re not the Juventus of even two years ago.

“So while they are decent players, do they really improve the Tottenham squad? Maybe slightly, but it’s almost like nobody wanted to really pull the trigger in that little bracket of teams and go and gamble on a big signing to really make a difference.

“You have to respect that because you don’t want a situation where a team overspends and things go very wrong but I don’t think any team chasing fourth have really added anything significant.

“So it’ll be down to what we’ve seen so far and I think Manchester United are still in the driving seat.

“I think it will be quite clear with Man United, Man City, Chelsea, and Liverpool. I think they are so strong. It’s the clearest it’s been in the last 10 years; I don’t see anyone getting close to them.”

Is the EPL top-four race already over?

Man City are obviously the team to beat right now and the only team who can achieve that are Liverpool. Liverpool are nine points behind City but they have played one game less so they still remain in the hunt.

Liverpool’s spot in the top two is not yet guaranteed but with the way they are playing, we don’t see them dropping too many points either.

As for the other two UCL spots, there’s no saying who will end up where. Chelsea are currently third on the EPL table but they have played more games than all the other contenders.

If Spurs can win their games-in-hand then they will actually be one point better off the Blues and will be sitting on the third spot, rather than their current position(7th).

Arsenal had made a great case for themselves but over the past few months, their grit and determination has sort of fizzled out. West Ham United too are expected to run out of steam in the next few months, especially since they did not make the necessary signings during the January window.

Joe Cole believes Man United are the favourites to finish in the top four of the EPL table but we have a feeling it’s actually Spurs who are going to make a late dash.

United are failing to grind out results and even Chelsea have seen their form drop in the previous months. Both these sides are bound to drop points in the coming weeks(especially with the Champions League restarting) meaning all Spurs have to do is to win their games in hand.

Conte has been able to revitalise the Spurs side in a very short time and the only thing they need to do is to turn up and perform against the big clubs.

Arsenal and West Ham are likely to fall out of the EPL top-four race pretty soon and as per our judgement, Chelsea, Tottenham and Man United will be the ones fighting it out during the twilight end of the season.
