Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are without a doubt two of the biggest names in the 2018 World Cup but both of them have had very contrasting starts to the campaign.

While Ronaldo scored a hattrick during Portugal’s first game against Spain helping his team come out of the match with a 3-3 draw, Lione Messi, on the other hand, had a frustrating evening after Argentina were held to a 1-1 draw in their Group D game by Iceland.

And ever since Argentina’s man has gotten over, fans have wasted no time in comparing Lionel Messi with Cristiano Ronaldo – as they always do.

While most of the arguments from the fans are baseless and biased but former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has given a reason why Ronaldo is performing better at the World Cup as compared to Messi.

And the Frenchman’s argument is one of the most logical that we have come across till now.

Patrice Evra is currently in Russia along with pundit Garry Neville covering the World Cup for ITV Sport and it was here that the fullback made a remark that Ronaldo loves pressure whereas Lionel Messi crumbles under it.

Evra said: “When you saw Cristiano Ronaldo last night, it’s down to Cristiano Ronaldo. Today, it was down to Messi,

“And he didn’t perform well. I think the players around him should perform much better but Ronaldo had the same problem last night.

“I just feel like Ronaldo enjoys the pressure more than Messi. I think Messi just gets frustrated, but Ronaldo just loves it.”

But surely this is not the last of the Ronaldo vs Lionel Messi debate especially after Portugal take on Morocco on Wednesday afternoon and Argentina take the field 24 hours later vs Croatia.
