Rangers FC Dave King gave an exclusive interview to STV where he spoke about a lot of finer details within the club and how the Light Blues are preparing for the new season in the Scottish Premiership.

From the battle with the takeover panel to discussing upcoming transfers, King gave a very honest interview but one particular portion of that interview has caught the attention of the fans.

Celtic fans more than the Gers’ fans to be quite honest.

During the interview, Dave King claimed that the club have made a lot of progress during the last couple of seasons and this year would be a pretty competitive one. The chairman also feels that despite a bad season last time around, the Light Blues had a lot of positives which would help them move a lot closer to the Hoops during the 2018-19 season.

King said“I feel there was some progress last year in terms of the team’s performance, even though it was still quite disappointing.

“The gap between ourselves, Celtic and Aberdeen narrowed quite a bit so as much as we were all disappointed there were still a lot of positives.

“Hopefully, we now have a defence that will concede fewer goals so I’m looking for us to be a lot more competitive this season.

“I would like to think that we would be more competitive in the league and certainly run it a lot closer.”

And ever since Dave King made these comments the Celtic fans have been taking the mickey out of the Light Blues chairman.

Rangers finished third on the Scottish League table at the end of the 2017-18 season with 70 points and were an astounding 12 points behind champions Celtic. The Light Blues even finished behind Aberdeen who were second with 73 points.

The Gers kick off the new season when they take on Aberdeen in the first matchday on the 5th of August.
