Chelsea have been chasing Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell for a really long time and now it seems the Blues have moved one step further – as per a report in Todofichajes.

With Emerson heading back to Italy and Marcos Alsonso also moving rapidly towards the exit doors, Lampard is looking to bring in a new left-back for the 2020-21 season and it seems like Ben Chilwell is going to be that man since the London club have already opened talks with the Foxes over a possible deal.

Todofichajes are claiming: “Chelsea continue to plan the squad for next season. The London team is aware that it needs to raise the level of the squad if it wants to aspire to go far in Europe and from the sports management they have already set to work to carry out operations for the summer.

“According to the information we handle at TodoFichajes, Chelsea is negotiating with Leicester City to sign Ben Chilwell.

“Chilwell, for his part, does not look down on continuing in the Premier League and has already communicated to his agent that he would like to continue his career in London.”

Is Gosens the perfect alternative to Ben Chilwell?

This is great news for all the Chelsea fans since Ben Chilwell is one of the best left-backs in the Premier League right now and he will be a fine addition to the Blues squad next season.

But the problem is that Leicester are expected to quote an enormous price for Ben Chilwell with some experts claiming that the Foxes might want as much as €80 million.

This is a really steep price for one defender which is why some people believe Chelsea should shift their focus to Atalanta’s left-back Robin Gosens.

Gosens joined the Italian side in 2017 and since then he’s been a really productive figure for the club. This season, the 25-year-old has featured in 22 Serie A matches, scoring as many as seven goals and providing five assists.

And with just two years left on his current deal, Atalanta are ready to sell him off for just €26 million which is a really reasonable price when compared to that of Ben Chilwell.

It’s still unclear if the Blues will shift their focus to Robin Gosens or not but on thing’s for sure, Lampard will have to be a really bold manager if he is actually willing to pay around €80 million for the Leicester City man.
