Rangers vs Leipzig

Rangers FC have so far made ten signings this summer but with a number of players leaving the club, the Gers are still planning to bring in a couple of players this month.

And one of the areas that the Light Blues need to strengthen is the striker’s position which currently has only two recognized players.

Steven Gerrard has only Alfredo Morelos and Umar Sadiq as his two front men and the manager is out in the market looking to add a backup striker.

And while the Ibrox outfit is struggling in the market to find a new striker, one of their former forwards is going for 30 times more than what they had sold him for.

The player in question is Martyn Waghorn who is set to join Middlesbrough from Ipswich Town for a fee of around £7 million.

Waghorn arrived at Rangers in 2015 along with James Tavernier and the player had an eventful time at the club – scoring 44 goals in 78 games.

But oddly enough former manager Pedro Caixinha chose to sell him off last summer to Ipswich for just £200,000.

And in less than 12 months time the player is being sold off for £7 million to Middlesbrough.

So while writing for the Sun former Celtic midfielder Davie Provan chose to attack the Gers management with some rather harsh words.

“King must have winced when hearing Middlesbrough are offering Ipswich £7million for Martyn Waghorn,” said the Sky Sports pundit.

“Even if Gers get a slice of the fee, they should be embarrassed Waghorn was sold for just £200,000.

“Good for 16 goals during his last season at Ibrox, the striker matched that figure in his first season at Portman Road. No wonder Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy boasted he had stolen Waghorn from Ibrox.”

During the 2017-18 season, Martyn Waghorn played 46 games for the Championship side – scoring 16 goals.
