West Ham United manager Manuel Pellegrini has already splashed more than a £100 million during the summer transfer window and it seems that the London outfit are on the verge of completing yet another signing.

Pellegrini has been planning to sign a backup striker to his two front men Javier Hernandez and Marko Arnautovic, and by the looks of it, the Hammers are going to raid the Arsenal dressing room.

West Ham United have been eyeing a move for Arsenal striker Lucas Perez for a couple of weeks now and it seems that the London outfit have moved one step closer to signing the 29-year-old.

According to reporter Nicolo Schira, an Italian journalist – who writes for Gazzetta Dello Sport, the Hammers are close to signing Perez and the deal could be wrapped up by Monday.

Schira wrote on his Twitter account: “Lucas Perez is getting closer to WestHam from Arsenal. On Monday they will talk to finalize the deal.”

Lucas Perez’s career seemed to have faded away during his time at Arsenal but his loan to Deportivo last season has added new energy and now Pellegrini wants him at the London stadium.

The 29-year-old played 32 games for Deportivo in the La Liga last season – scoring six goals.

While nothing has been mentioned about the transfer price but Transfermarkt rates him at just a shade below £7 million and the Gunners will be more than ready to let him move out for anything close to £10 million.

Unai Emery is desperate to gain funds in order to make a move for Steven N’Zonzi who is expected to cost in the region of £35 million and in such a scenario all West Ham have to do is to place a meaningful bid for Lucas Perez.
