Frank Lampard inspired his Chelsea team to a 4-4 draw vs Ajax in the Champions League after going down 4-1 just before the 60th minute.

The travelling side were by far the better side during the first half of the match but the Blues came on during the second half with all guns blazing and managed to score three goals in quick succession.

Frank Lampard did make a number of key changes during the course of the game and each one of the substitutes made a positive impact.

While the manager was obviously angry with the amount of time added on towards the end of the match especially since the second half saw two red cards but Frank Lampard did have only positive things to say about his young squad.

Lampard said[as reported]: “Today was just a mad one, there are not too many I can compare it to from my day, with the VAR which is a new animal, and the red cards.

“But take all that out of it, and the spirit and the character was something I love. We need to tighten up, for sure, but with that spirit, we can go places.

“You need characters, you need personalities. It would be easy to turn it in at 3-1, or 4-1, but we didn’t.

“I think this group was always going to be tight, and we are in it. We’ve got two games left, very tough matches, and we have a lot of work to do.”

Chelsea have a come a long way since their 4-0 loss to Man United at the start of the current season and right now they are easily one of the sides to beat in the Premier League.

While this draw means Frank Lampard still has some work to do in Europe but given the way they fought back vs Ajax last night, it is more or less certain that the Blues will be moving onto the knockout stages.

Next up, the Blues take on Crystal Palace at home in the Premier League and then after the international break they head to the Etihad in order to take on Manchester City.
