Chelsea manager Frank Lampard had made a strong start to his managerial career at Stamford Bridge despite failing to sign even a single player during the summer transfer window.

Now though it looks like he’s desperately in need of reinforcements since his current squad is failing to come up with positive results.

The Blues have dropped points to the likes of Southampton, Brighton and Newcastle United during the past one month and one of their major failures has been scoring goals in order to kill off matches.

And after a slump of performances during the past couple of matches, there has been a buzz that Frank Lampard is now desperate to sign new forwards before the January transfer window shuts down.

But when the Chelsea boss was asked if he is in a hurry to sign new attackers, here’s what Frank Lampard had to say.

‘I don’t think it hastens it[the pursuit of a new attacker],’ the manager said via the club’s official website.

‘We didn’t do any business in the summer window so at this point it’s something we’ve seen as being a little problem over some of our home games where we haven’t scored.

“There are two things to do – firstly, work hard with the group here and secondly, if we can improve in areas of goalscoring then it’s something for sure we have to look at.

‘Sometimes as a team, you can work to get yourself up the pitch towards the 18-yard box and create chances but then you do rely on those moments of killer instinct, being calm to put the ball away and it’s something we’ve fallen short of.

‘You can practise it and we certainly need to get better at if we want to continue to look upwards because there’s a slight ceiling if you can’t do that last bit.

“It’s all good getting into the 18-yard box a lot but to finish the job is the gold and what makes the difference.’
