Chelsea have finally appointed Frank Lampard as their new manager after Maurizio Sarri left for Juventus last month.

Frank Lampard retired from football back in 2017 while playing in the MLS for the NYCFC and last season he took charge of Derby County as their manager.

The England legend had a wonderful season with the Championship side and he almost brought them back into the Premier League only losing out to Aston Villa in the playoffs.

But now Frank Lampard has returned back home with the Blues announcing the decision on Thursday.

An official statement read: “Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce Frank Lampard as our new head coach.

“One of the greatest players in our history during his long and illustrious career, Lampard returns to Stamford Bridge having signed a three-year contract.”

The former Derby County manager said: ‘I am immensely proud to be returning to Chelsea as head coach. Everyone knows my love for this club and the history we have shared, however, my sole focus is on the job in hand and preparing for the season ahead.

‘I am here to work hard, bring further success to the club and I cannot wait to get started.’

Now with Frank Lampard at the helm, many believe that this could be the beginning of the end for Jorginho.

Maurizio Sarri stood by Jorginho last season despite the former Napoli failing to impress but now the manager has deserted him and joined Juventus.

Jorginho is left all alone with no one to back him up and it would not be a surprise if one of the first things that Frank Lampard does is to bench Jorginho.

Others though believe the Chelsea legend will not be foolish enough to snub a talent like Jorginho especially at a time when there is a transfer ban on the club.

These people feel Frank Lampard will use Jorginho in midfield for the whole of the 2019-20 season but we just might get to see him in a slightly altered position.
