Steven Gerrard has gone on to speak highly about former Celtic player and manager Kenny Dalglish.

The niceties and formalities are not very common between the Old Firm rivals but given the fact the Dalglish is also a Liverpool legend, Gerrard can be spared this time.

The new Rangers manager has added that the former Celtic player is his hero, much like anyone growing up in Liverpool.




But the former Liverpool midfielder also went on to add that how that he has taken charge of the Gers there are high chances that Kenny Dalglish is not going to pick up his calls.

Steven Gerrard jokingly said“Kenny is my hero, if you are a young boy and you grow up in Liverpool, Kenny Dalglish is the man.




“I know he is a Celtic man but we are friends and Kenny is that type of man. He is a real football man.

“He has given me many bits of advice over the years. Our relationship is very strong although he will probably let the phone ring out now!”




Kenny Dalglish started his senior footballing career at Celtic where he played 322 games after which he went on to join Liverpool and subsequently became a legend at Anfield.

While talking about Kenny Dalglish, Steven Gerrard has also hinted to the fact that he has plans of bringing former Rangers manager Walter Smith back to the club in order to use his experience.
