Rangers FC manager Steven Gerrard has called Chicago Fire right-back Matt Polster for a trail at Ibrox.
For those of you who do not know who Polster is, here is a small brief about the player.
Matt Polster currently plays for MLS side Chicago Fire having joined the club in 2015.
During the first three seasons at the club, the right-back made more than 80 appearances for the club but during 2018 he has made only three appearances for the fire during the whole season.
His lack of appearances has not been due to a dip in form but rather a serious knee injury.
And now it seems the 25-year-old could be on his way to signing a deal at the club.
But why on earth is the Gers manager looking to sign a player who managed to make only three appearances in the whole MLS season?
Well according to US journalist Charles Boehm, Steven Gerrard was impressed by Matt Polster’s talent when he himself was playing in the MLS.
“The other interesting angle here, speaking of Steven Gerrard, is that he crossed paths with the other player on trial from Chicago, Matt Polster,” Boehm told RockSport Radio.
“They played against one another when Gerrard finished his career with LA Galaxy.
“It’s my understanding that he noticed Polster during that time and may have played role in him calling him in.”
Matt Polster is not the only player who is currently on trial at Rangers FC as fellow American full-back Andrew Gutman is also trying to earn a contract at Ibrox.
