Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi is wanted by teams like Bayern Munich and Arsenal but the Spain international has claimed that he is currently very happy where he is.

Zubimendi has come up through Sociedad’s youth setup and right now, the midfielder is one of the most important players in the first-team squad. This season, he’s featured in 30 La Liga games for the club, scoring four and assisting one goal and he’s been dazzling the Spanish top division with his consistent performances.

Both Arsenal and Bayern Munich have keeping tabs on Martin Zubimendi for some time but the 25-year-old says that he is currently focused on playing for Sociedad.

“They are just rumours,” he told Kooora. “I am happy at Real Sociedad, it is like my home.

“I cannot say that I will play my entire career at Real Sociedad, perhaps the club does not want me to continue in the future, but I do not worry about those rumours.”

Martin Zubimendi clearly loves the club where he’s spent all his professional career but his current contract has a €60 million release clause and either Bayern or Arsenal will definitely trigger it in the summer.

According to journalist David Ornstein’s quote in The Athletic, one of Thomas Partey or Jorginho is going to leave Arsenal in the summer which is why Mikel Arteta is so invested in a player like Zubimendi.

“I’d expect one of Thomas Partey and Jorginho to leave this summer. Perhaps that might be Partey because he could raise some money,” Ornstein has stated.

“But I don’t say that with certainty because, when Partey plays, we know how important he is. We also don’t know what Jorginho will decide to do himself, given his contract is expiring. Arsenal would love to keep him but this is one of many areas that needs to be resolved.”

Bayern Munich are also in search of a defensive midfielder and Martin Zubimendi is supposed to be one of their targets however it’s unclear if the Spanish international is a priority or not.

The 25-year-old is contracted with Real Sociedad until 2027 so the La Liga side are in no hurry to offload him but most experts believe that if an interested team triggers the midfielder’s release clause which becomes active in the summer, Real Sociedad will not stand in the way.
