According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Juventus defender and captain Giorgio Chiellini pulled up in training on Monday afternoon.

Yes, just as the Old Lady fans were starting to rejoice the return of Cristiano Ronaldo back to full fitness it looks like key defender Giorgio Chiellini could miss the first leg in Amsterdam.

The report suggests that Giorgio Chiellini has picked up a calf injury and was immediately taken off the training grounds in order to be treated.

During the 2018-19 season, Giorgio Chiellini has so far played in 21 league games for Juventus and the 34-year-old has been a key figure in central defence especially with his defensive partner Bonucci looking a bit wobbly at times.

Chiellini was rested for the weekend clash vs AC Milan which was a way to ensure that the ageing defender remains fully fit for the clash vs Ajax.

But now it looks like he could very well miss a starting berth in Amsterdam.

This will certainly be a huge blow for Max Allegri since with Giorgio Chiellini out of the picture, the manager only has  Leonardo Bonucci and Daniele Rugani as his two fit central defenders.

And with Rugani still maturing as a centre-back, the spirited attack of Juve could very well treat the Juve defence to shreds.

If Chiellini does miss the Wednesday night clash then surely the likes of Matuidi and Pjanic will be under extra pressure to provide an extra shield for the back-four.
