Granit Xhaka Arsenal news EPL
Granit Xhaka

Granit Xhaka has had a love-hate relationship with the Arsenal fans ever since he joined the club in 2016 from Monchengladbach but this season, the problems reached a boiling point.

The player was booed off the pitch on one instance and as a response, he chose to hurl abuses at the Emirates crowd which immediately made him a villain at the club and it was almost certain that he was going to be shown the door.

But shortly after, Mikel Arteta replaced Unai Emery at the Gunners boss and the former midfielder helped Granit Xhaka find a new lease of life at the club.

Now, the once captain of the club has explained how his new manager helped him as well as the other players inside the dressing room.

He told Sport1, via Mirror: “I think I have had a very good relationship and very good contact with all the coaches here at Arsenal. Everyone has their own character, their own philosophy and also their own way of addressing.

“With Mikel, however, something like a restart actually started for me. I had very good conversations with him right from the start, in which he showed me what he expected of me, how much he needed me in the team and who valued me as a player.

“It was very motivating and convincing for me. With him, you immediately notice that he has a very wide-ranging, long-standing know-how that he passes on very well to the team.

“He is absolutely professional, pays great attention to discipline, team spirit, is open and direct in communication. I am convinced that we still have a lot of fun with him.”

Will Granit Xhaka remain at Arsenal next season?

Granit Xhaka has seen a lot of game time ever since Mikel Arteta took charge at the club and so far he’s racked up 22 appearances in the Premier League this campaign.

But we feel, even Arteta knows how average the Swiss international can be at times which is why the manager will most certainly be looking for an upgrade as soon as the transfer window starts.

Already players like Thomas Partey and Arthur Melo have been linked with Arsenal as possible replacements for Granit Xhaka and it shouldn’t come as a surprise if the 27-year-old is promptly sold off in the summer.

Right now, Xhaka is very much a part of the squad and if season restarts he will once again be part of the starting line-up.
