Rangers FC are currently on the lookout for a new striker who can act as an ideal back up to Alfredo Morelos and Umar Sadiq.

The Light Blues have so far made ten signings but the manager has revealed he needs a couple of more new players in order to complete the jigsaw puzzle.

And getting a striker seems to be of the utmost importance to Steven Gerrard.

While Rangers have a number of suitable candidates on their radar but the name of Kyle Lafferty has come up quite a few days during the past week or so.

Lafferty who currently plays for Hearts FC has spent four years with the Gers and reports have it that the 30-year-old is keen on moving back to Ibrox.

The Glasgow outfit had already made a bid of £200,000 bid for Lafferty but Hearts FC swiftly rejected the offer – claiming it was way below their demands.

And now that Steven Gerrard is planning to make one more move for the striker, Hearts FC manager Craig Levein has given a word of advice to his managerial counterpart on how the Ibrox outfit can land Lafferty.

Levein has said that Steven Gerrard wants to get his hands on Kyle Lafferty for a cheap transfer price which he as a manager also tends to do. And in saying so the Hearts FC manager has hinted at the fact that the Light Blues to up the price.

The Hearts FC manager said“I don’t have any issue with people trying to get players on the cheap, I try and do that myself.

“I think that’s part of business of course and I don’t want to talk about how anyone else does their business.”

Levein also confirmed that there have been no further bids for the hitman.

He said: “Not as far as I’m aware.

“Things are status quo and there’s another four weeks in the transfer window to go so we’ll see what happens.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen.

“For a deal to go through, three parties need to be satisfied with the deal and at this moment in time, there isn’t a common ground.

“It’s just a normal situation like any transfer it’s the status quo and Kyle will be involved tomorrow.”

Latest reports have suggested that Steven Gerrard has not yet given up on Kyle Lafferty and he is planning to approach Hearts FC with yet another improved bid.
