Arsenal manager Unai Emery has so far made five signings since being appointed the new manager at the Emirates but the Gunners still look a few signings short of a good enough squad.

Emery is currently in the market looking for a new midfielder after he revealed that Aaron Ramsey might leave the club before the new Premier League season begins.

But for some time now, it was being reported that the Gunners were planning to make a move for Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes.

Gomes joined Barcelona from fellow La Liga side Valencia in 2016 but last season the central midfielder managed to make only 16 appearances in the league.

This clearly suggests that Andre Gomes has fallen out of favour under Valverde and news has it that that the Catalans are planning to offload him this summer.

Having said that though, Arsenal are not the only club interested in the 25-year-old as Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is also keeping tabs on the midfielder.

Both Spurs and Arsenal were expected to make a formal move for Andre Gomes this weekend but now reports from Spain are suggesting that West Ham United have grown an interest in the player.

Hammers have already signed a number of midfielders this summer but the fact that Andre Gomes on either side of midfield apart from his favoured central role has reportedly spiked the interest of Manuel Pellegrini.

Andre Gomes suffered a hamstring injury during Barcelona’s pre-season training but that has done very little to drop the interest from all the three London clubs.

The entry of Spurs and now West Ham United in the hunt of Andre Gomes is not a good sign for Arsenal given the fact that Barcelona will now have the option of jacking up the asking price with three top clubs interested in the midfielder.

And with less than a week left for the transfer window to close, there’s fear that Andre Gomes might become one of those infamous overpriced buys.
