West Ham United have splurged a lot of cash this summer under new boss Manuel Pellegrini and despite signing a number of midfielders, it seems that the Hammers want further reinforcements in that area.

According to the latest reports, West Ham United have shown an interest in signing 25-year-old midfielder Diego Laxalt.

Laxalt currently plays in Serie A side Genoa joined them from Inter Milan in 2016. And last season the midfielder was one of the key members of the first team playing 32 games in the league.

And a fine performance during the 2017-18 season also helped Diego Laxalt secure a place in Uruguay’s World Cup squad in Russia where he made four appearances.

Now the midfielder’s agent has confirmed that Manuel Pellegrini is interested in signing the 25-year-old.

Diego Laxalt’s agent, Ariel Krasouski said“So many clubs, not only Italian but also foreign. There are rumours. Napoli and also West Ham are interested. They made a proposal, I know the sporting director [Mario Husillos] and [Manuel] Pellegrini.

“We are talking, we will see what will happen.”

West Ham United have already signed a number of midfielders this summer but we can see why Manuel Pellegrini has been drawn towards the World Cup star.

Apart from playing on the left side of midfield, Diego Laxalt can also play as a left-back and has successfully done so for Genoa last season in the Serie A.

Recent reports suggest that the Hammers have already made an approach for the 25-year-old and have placed a formal bid in the region of £11 million.
