Brazil were held to a 1-1 draw by Switzerland during their World Cup encounter on Sunday evening and the South American side joins the long list of top teams who have failed to pick up all three points in their opening day.

Brazil were handed a 1-0 lead early on in the first half thanks to a wonderful long ranger from Philippe Coutinho but Switzerland equalised in the 50th minutes and held onto that scoreline in order to take back one crucial point from the game.

Most of the Brazilian side performed below average and Neymar was undoubtedly one of the biggest disappointments of the game.

Neymar failed to show any sort of magic during the 90 minutes and it can only be described as a poor outing for the PSG superstar.

After the match, former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger took no time to criticize Neymar branding him as a superstar who always does his own thing.

Wenger also pointed out the fact that current crop of Brazilian players lacks a leader.

Wenger told beIN Sports: ‘You don’t have natural captains anymore in the younger generation, I don’t know why,

‘Maybe because every player is now a star. For example, Neymar is the superstar. This guy has 170m followers.

‘Even if I am captain of Neymar, he’ll do what he wants.’

The former Gunners boss also talked about the defensive frailties that Brazil have which indicated that the defensive line could be in for some real challenges as the tournament progresses.

‘Miranda and Thiago Silva are both over 30… Marquinhos is individually better, but he has less experience,’ Wenger added.

‘When the pressure is on, that is very important.

‘Thiago Silva is good on the ball, Miranda is a bit more basic, but he is the better defender.’

Brazil play their next group game of the World Cup against Costa Rica on Friday and the whole world will surely have their eyes on Neymar.
