Ryan Kent has finally arrived back to Rangers FC – this time on a permanent transfer from Liverpool for reported transfer fee of 7 million pounds.

But at one point it looked like the winger was going to stay in England with clubs like Aston Villa and Leeds United interested in signing him during the summer.

During the summer it looked like Leeds United was going to be the next destination for Kent since Marcelo Bielsa was eager to bring him to Elland Road in a bid to qualify for the Premier League next season.

Eventually though it was Rangers who got their hands on the winger and the player has now revealed that Steven Gerrard played a key role in making up his mind to return back to Scotland.

Speaking to the club’s official website(as reported by The Express), Kent said: “After last season I have evolved even more as a player and I think now if I could add that final end product to my game then it is going to be a good season for me and for the team,

“With Steven Gerrard as manager there is a lot of ambition that comes from him, he wants to win things.”

Steven Gerrard obviously was the man who convinced Jurgen Klopp to let Ryan Kent move to Rangers since at one point there were reports that the German boss might want to hold onto the winger as a backup for the cup competitions.

Now there are reports which claim Leeds United did make a late bid in order to sign Ryan Kent which had put Rangers FC on the back foot.

But the Anfield outfit chose not to let Ryan Kent leave for the Championship since Leeds United were willing to pay only £4.5million for the winger.

And obviously this was way less than what Liverpool had been quoting for their academy graduate(around £10 million).

Leeds though were not ready to spend anything more on Kent since Bielsa had already brought in a number of attacking talents this summer. This decision obviously put Rangers back on the driver’s seat and Liverpool had to settle for a transfer fee of around £7 million.
