Manchester United have spent huge amounts of money in the transfer market during the past couple of years ultimately without any end product.

Ed Woodward has so far made a number of marquee signings at the club but it is safe to say that most of them have turned out to be duds.

Now it looks like Woodward is planning to take a cue out of the books of Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham Hotspur have worked on a shoestring budget under Daniel Levy and in turn, their main focus has been to nurture home-grown English talent.

And as per journalist Duncan Castles, Ed Woodward is planning to do the same at Manchester United.

Castles said: “When you have that policy of ‘let’s try and sign up good young English players’ – which is something that I think comes from one of his friends in football, Daniel Levy, and one of the reasons why Woodward is following that approach – then Wan-Bissaka’s obviously going to be a target.

Castles also touched on the Man United giving Ashley Young a new deal despite having Diogo Dalot and how the club might be looking to solve this dilemma.

“The interesting thing with Manchester United is they already have a very talented and highly-rated young attacking right-back on their books, having signed Diogo Jalot last summer,” Castles added.

“And I think if they add Wan-Bissaka while also having given Ashley Young a new contract and Ashley Young’s position being right-back now, you’d have to ask what their plans are for Dalot.

“Because you then have three players fighting for one position, unless your thinking is ‘we convert Dalot into being a wide midfielder’ and use him in that right-wing position that’s been a long-standing problem for United, and make Wan-Bissaka the long-term solution at right-back.

“I do see Wan-Bissaka moving and Manchester United, yes, correct, are interested. But is that the right player for Manchester United to be focusing some of the transfer revenue this summer? I’m not entirely sure about that.”
