Rangers FC’s recent acquisition came in the form of right-back John Flanagan from Liverpool on a free transfer and with that, the Ibrox outfit have made seven acquisitions during the summer.

New manager Steven Gerrard has gone out and spent some big money in order to reshape his first-team squad and we can safely say that the former Liverpool man has brought in a player for almost every position in the playing eleven.

Now after seven impressive signings and one and a half months left for the 2018-19 season we can properly predict how Rangers FC will line up next season.

Goalkeeper:

Allan McGregor will be in goal after Rangers signed him in May from Hull City for a second spell.

Defence:

The right-back spot is up for grabs as things stand with James Tavernier being the obvious choice. But some reports claim that Gerrard is open to selling the player off during the summer in which case, new signing John Flanagan will be at right-back.

The centre-back partnership will see two new faces in the form of Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic. Katic was signed for an undisclosed fee from Croatian side Slaven Belupo while Goldson was bought in June from Brighton on a four-year deal.

The left-back spot right now is vacant but we expect Lee Wallace to reclaim it after Steven Gerrard has claimed he wants him back despite his falling out with the former manager.

Midfield:

The defensive midfield position should be taken up by Jack Ryan who put in a good shift last season after moving to Rangers from fellow Scottish side Aberdeen.

Summer signings Scott Arfield and Ovie Ejaria( on loan from Liverpool) will hopefully play on either side of central midfield.

The attacking midfielder’s role should be handed over to Jamie Murphy who moved to Rangers from Brighton on a loan deal in January. Rangers and Brighton then went on to make the deal permanent in May.

Attack:

The striker’s position is the only place that Steven Gerrard now needs to fix before the new season. A string of players have been linked with a move to join the Light Blues but the two names that have popped up recently are Liverpool outcast Dominic Solanke and AS Roma’s 21-year-old striker Umar Sadiq(on a loan deal).

Captain of the team:

While Lee Wallace is the currently the captain at Rangers but given the disciplinary charges penned against him there is a huge doubt if the left-back will be handed the captain’s armband next season. Manager Steven Gerrard has hinted that he is looking at new signing Connor Goldson as the new leader of the squad.
