Steven Gerrard wants Filip Helander at Aston Villa
Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard

Steven Gerrard took charge of Rangers FC last summer and the manager was clearly given complete control of the decision-making process.

The manager sent out a lot of deadwood and brought in a series of new faces during the summer transfer window and these changes clearly impacted the Gers’ performances during the first few months.

Rangers played with a lot of suave during the first few games but quickly that initial fizz faded away and now the Teddy Bears are struggling to keep up with Glasgow rivals Celtic FC.

Gerrard has brought in more than a dozen players during the last two transfer windows but despite that Rangers have been really inconsistent.

And now pundit Chris Sutton has claimed that he is not too impressed with the way Gerrard has gone about his business this season.

“Honestly? Four,” Sutton said on BT Sport(via Give Me Sport).

“He’s at a big club. He doesn’t manage a mediocre Premier League English team.

“It’s about winning trophies and they’re not going to win any.”

But Sutton has also gone on to add that his views on Steven Gerrard are not rigid and if the Gers can manage to pick up a trophy by the end of the season then surely his views will change.
