Manchester United will take on Barcelona in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals on Wednesday and the Red Devils will be going into this game with a number of injury concerns.

Solskjaer has already made it clear that the likes of Matic and Ander Herrera could be out of this fixture and now the Sun are claiming that if United fail to qualify for the Champions League next season there might be even bigger problems.

Solskjaer’s main aim will be to keep hold of the Champions League status for Man United for the upcoming campaign and as per the report, a failure to do so will result in a huge pay cut.

Apparently, the contracts of the current players are set up in such a way that if Man United do not play in the top tier of Europe next season then the players might have to take a pay cut of as much as 25%.

Yes, 25%.

Winning the Champions League is one way of ensuring that Man United remain amongst the elite next season but facing the likes of Barcelona, no one is really confident that the Red Devils will be able to progress through to the semis.

So finishing in the top-four automatically becomes the obvious choice.

Unfortunately though, Man United are not doing particularly well on that front either as they now sit sixth on the league table and as many as four teams are fighting for just two spots.

Under Solskjaer, Man United have obviously improved but recent losses against the likes of Arsenal and Wolves have forced them back once again.

Another big problem that Ole could face if his team were to miss the Champions League is keeping hold of his star players.

The likes of Paul Pogba have been linked with a move to Spain and if the Frenchman was forced to take a pay cut then we presume that he will just vacate Old Trafford and join forces with Zinedine Zidane.
