Thomas Partey

Arsenal are trying desperately to sign midfielder Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid and it looks like they are just one step away from completing the deal.

As per Football Ghana, the Premier League side are leading the race to sign the 27-year-old and they expect the deal to be wrapped up within two odd weeks.

The report claims: “English Premier League side, Arsenal is set to announce the signing of Ghanaian midfielder, Thomas Partey at the end of this month from Atletico Madrid.

“According to reports, Arsenal has agreed to pay the release clause of €50 to the Spanish outfit to secure his services ahead of the 2020/2021 season.

“Prior to this agreement, the North London side tried swapping players but could not materialize as Atletico insisted on the buy-out clause of the player.

“Footballghana.com can report that Arsenal is close to acquiring Partey’s services and are expected to announce his signing by end of this month or early September.”

This will be great news for the Arsenal fans as Granit Xhaka has not been at the top of his game in that defensive midfielder’s role during the 2019-20 season and in Thomas Partey, Mikel Arteta will finally get a long-term solution.

Over the past few days, multiple reports have suggested that Thomas is on his way to Arsenal and now Football Ghana have also put a specific timeline to this transfer.

So all in all, Thomas Partey joining the Emirates outfit is only a matter of time and it’s almost certain that the midfielder will be officially announced before the new Premier League season begins on September 12.
