Former Premier League manager gives the perfect explanation as to why Alexis Sanchez has turned into a failure

Alexis Sanchez moved to Manchester United from Arsenal during the January transfer window but the Chilean has failed to recreate his magic at Old Trafford.

Alexis Sanchez has been constantly underperforming for Manchester United this season – so much so that Jose Mourinho has finally taken the tough call of sending him back to the bench.

And now some rumours are also suggesting that the Chilean is already fed up with life at the club and wants to move out during the summer.

While many have pondered as to why Alexis Sanchez has turned out to be a flop, his former manager Arsene Wenger has provided the perfect example as to why the forward is constantly underperforming.

Arsene Wenger said: “I believe he has lost confidence,

“The strength of Alexis Sanchez is to take initiative to dribble and to take people on.

“Those are the players who are most vulnerable when they lose confidence their game is based on that and having that feeling to take initiative, he has lost that slowly.

“Since the start of the season he had a high level of physical energy but he has lost that as well.”

Alexis Sanchez is currently the highest paid player inside the Manchester United dressing room but his performances this season are reminiscent of those of a novice.

Jose Mourinho did choose to start with Alexis Sanchez on the left flank at the start of the season but now it seems the former Gunners man has lost his spot to Anthony Martial who has been in red-hot form during the past couple of weeks.

Alexis Sanchez did start the game against Juventus but that was in the striking role as Martial kept his spot on the left-hand side of the pitch.

While United are busy trying to solve the Alexis Sanchez problem, Arsenal seem to have gotten the better share of the deal with Henrikh Mkhitaryan who has made himself a first-team regular under new boss Unai Emery.
