Paul Pogba missed a penalty vs Wolves on Monday which meant the Red Devils had to settle for a draw.

With the match perfectly poised at 1-1, the Frenchman won a penalty after he was brought down inside the box. And he was the one who placed the ball and got ready to take the shot.

This though came as a surprise to a lot of people since it was Marcus Rashford who taken the penalty last weekend vs the Blues and the forward had absolutely nailed it.

But Paul Pogba went on to miss the shot and after this, there has been a heavy backlash and some idiots have also resorted to racial abuse on social media.

While Man United have strongly condemned this behaviour, Solskjaer has come out to explain the reason why Paul Pogba was allowed to take the penalty.

“The two of them are designated penalty takers,” Solskjaer said on Sky Sports(as reported).

“It is up to them who take it there and then. Sometimes players feel like they are confident to score. Today Patricio made a good save.

“You can see the slide on the powerpoint that this is the plan.

“We won’t change it after this week. The two have been confident. Last week Marcus scored a goal and today Paul was confident. I like players with confidence.”

And after Solskjaer’s statement, Marcus Rashford has also come out to support Paul Pogba and his decision to take the spot-kick.

The forward said: “Paul wanted to take it. It is that simple. Everyone can miss one. He has scored plenty of penalties in his United career.

“If you want to take it you take it. I took one last week and it is unfortunate he missed.

“The confidence you will score the goal is always high. There is no reason you wouldn’t be confident to take it. It isn’t just on him, it is on the team.”
