Man United dropped their first points of the new season as Paul Pogba failed to convert a penalty.

United were held to a 1-1 draw by Wolves at the Molineux Stadium as a fine strike from Ruben Neves cancelled out a first-half strike from Anthony Martial.

The Red Devils did have the chance to get back the lead and probably take all three points from the match after Paul Pogba won a penalty with about 20 minutes left on the clock.

And having won the spot-kick, the Frenchman decided to take the shot despite Marcus Rashford having taken the penalty last weekend vs Chelsea.

While there were no antics from Paul Pogba but he failed to convert which meant United had to lose out on two precious points.

And after the game, the midfielder has come under heavy criticism for taking not letting Rashford take the penalty but Gary Neville has blamed a lack of leadership on the pitch as the main reason why there was dilly-dally over the decision.

“Before he took the penalty I was fuming,” Neville said.

“However we have looked back at the penalty last week that Rashford took against Chelsea and Pogba had a long chat before. I don’t like it.

“Why is there a debate on who takes a penalty? Pogba has missed four in the last 12 months – so you would think he’s had his chance now. Rashford scored last week, take the penalty.

“But there wasn’t a leader on the pitch. You saw the clips there, [Daniel] James was there, [Anthony] Martial, they couldn’t make a decision between them. Something is not right there.

“Initially I was fuming with Pogba. I thought ‘Typical you, you’re selfish’ Why you even thinking of taking a penalty off a player?’

“But actually last week’s one, it’s weird, something is not right. Solskjaer is going to be able to shed light on it.

“It[Ole’s explanation that both Rahsford and Pogba are penalty takers] settles the anger I had around Pogba taking the penalty off Rashford,

“I understand you have two penalty takers but Pogba has missed four in the last 12 months.

“Surely the player who scores last week should take it this week.”
