Chelsea suffered their first defeat of the season this weekend and Tottenham Hotspur humiliated them to a 3-1 victory.

Spurs were easily the best team on Saturday as Dele Alli opened the scoring within the first 10 minutes and it was followed by a goal each from Harry Kane and a superb solo run from Son.

While each and every player shone for Spurs in the high profile encounter but it was Dele Alli who deserves a special mention. The English international not only opened the scoring but also came agonisingly close to adding his second goal in the second half.

But apart from the goal, Dele Alli received heavy praise for keeping tabs on Chelsea midfielder Jorginho all throughout the man.

The pass-master as he is often referred to was useless for Chelsea on Saturday which was a key reason why the Blues looked so lacklustre both in attack as well as defence.

And now Dele Alli has revealed the gameplan which Mauricio Pochettino handed to him before the game.

“The manager makes it very clear what you have to do. So going into the game, you know your role and what you have to do,” he said.

“You don’t have to worry about anything else, your football is natural, it’s what you’ve been doing for a long time.

“So as long as we’re clear on our roles and responsibilities, we can enjoy playing.

“We knew Jorginho is a big part of them playing out from the back and dominating possession. He’s obviously a very good player and likes getting on the ball.

“We thought that if we could stop that —  and we wanted to win the ball up high —  so I wanted to be as close to him as possible to make sure that we did win the ball up high, break early and create the chances  we did.”

The loss for Chelsea means that Spurs have now leapfrogged over the Blues and currently sit third on the Premier League table with 30 points.
