Arsenal are currently pushing for that top-four spot in the Premier League table in order to get back into the Champions League next season.

There is still a very good chance that the Gunners might finish in the top four but truth be told the club are still miles away from challenging for the title.

Former Arsenal player and current pundit has revealed just how long it will take for Arsenal to get back amongst the big boys and start challenging for the Premier League crown.

And we can assure you that the answer will not please the Arsenal fans one bit.

“What do you think? 20 years,” Merson told Sky Sports(as reported by Goal).

“They’re a million miles away at the moment and the way it is going right now they probably need seven players to compete.

“I don’t see them winning again for a long, long time.”

The pundit has also revealed the reason behind his comments.

“Letting Ramsey leave is just bad, bad club management isn’t it,” Merson added.

“To let player contracts run out in this day and age for how much these players go for and how much they’re worth is criminal.

“To let him leave the club and walk away for free, somebody in his prime leaving for nothing, it’s a football crime.

“Now they have got to replace him and that will cost money but until the Ozil problem gets sorted out they are going to find it difficult to bring in players.

“Because if they bid £50-60m for someone, the first thing the player will say is well I want what Ozil is getting.

“And when the club says you aren’t getting that then the player will just say well I’m not coming then. And that is what happened with Ramsey.”

Arsenal started the new season in fine fashion under their new boss Unai Emery but then a series of injuries to their defenders have halted their process somewhat.

On top of that, the situations surrounding Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil are not helping either with many fans claiming that Emery might be a really good tactician but his man management off the field is not his plus point.
