After losing their first Premier League game to Man City last week, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool suffered yet another defeat.

This time the Reds crashed out of the FA Cup after losing the 3rd round fixture to Wolves.

Jurgen Klopp made as many as nine changes to his first XI with only James Milner and Dejan Lovren starting the game.

But after the ninety minutes, it looks like the loss isn’t the worst thing that has happened to Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Centre-back Dejan Lovren was taken off the pitch in just the sixth minute of the match meaning all of Liverpool’s centre-backs are out injured.

Dejan Lovren’s injury meant youngster Ki-Jana Hoever made his debut in defence alongside Fabinho and now the manager has confirmed that the Croatian international has picked up a hamstring injury.

Klopp told his post-match press conference: “[It is his] hamstring, is what I heard – without any signs before. I asked everybody, no signs, nothing, just out of the blue, so that’s the decision you have to make.

“I am not sure what you all would have said if immediately from the beginning our centre-half situation was Fabinho and Ki-Jana; then probably a few very smart people would tell me that I don’t respect the competition or whatever.

“So, we tried to do all the things [we could]. Of course, on the other hand, it doesn’t make sense to bring in a 16-year-old boy from the start. You don’t bring him, you wait until he is completely ready, but he did well. He came on and did well.

“That’s how it sometimes starts – when you are really needed then it is only about if you are good enough and not how old you are.

“He did well, so that was all OK. That’s it.”

Joel Matip and Joe Gomez are both sidelined with an injury and are expected to return during the final week of January. The manager has confirmed that Van Dijk too is ill and there is a doubt over his availability against Brighton this weekend.

The extent of Dejan Lovren’s injury has not been confirmed yet and if it is a grade 1 injury then he should return back to training in a few days.

But if it is a muscle tear then Dejan Lovren could be out of action for a couple of weeks(even months).

So what will Jurgen Klopp do for the next couple of games?

Will he go out and buy a new defender?
