Steven Gerrard wants Filip Helander at Aston Villa

Steven Gerrard has been with Rangers FC for almost two seasons now but the Englishman is yet to strike a blow at Celtic’s dominance in the domestic circuit.

Last season, the Bhoys won the Premiership by a comfortable margin and this year too, Neil Lennon’s men have a 13-point lead at the top of the table.

And while Steven Gerrard has managed to make a series of positive changes at Ibrox over these years but the Gers are not even close to challenging their Old Firm rivals to the title.

And according to former Spurs midfielder Micheal Brown, the Teddy Bears boss is now looking at Liverpool, his former club, to find help in trying to close that gap.

Brown told Football Insider“He’s on the phone every day is Steven Gerrard, he’s on the phone every day trying to get help from Liverpool, of course, he is.

“That’s his job, that’s what he does, that’s his aura. He’s looking at how can he improve his team, how can he get better players to the football club, get them that little bit of stability and make them better?

“For me, they’ve just got to concentrate on bridging that gap, they’ve come a long way, we’ve seen some great signs under Steve Gerrard and now a bit more of a drive in recruitment, a bit more investment.

“Celtic are certainly aware that Rangers are back, they’re as close as they’ve ever been and they’ll put the pressure on them.”

Currently, Liverpool have one of the best footballing academies in England where they have a pool of talent which can be easily tapped by Steven Gerrard.

And given that the Gers manager is a legend at Anfield, he should not have any major issues in trying to bring in a few youngsters on loan to Scotland.

Last year, he brought in players like Sheyi Ojo and Ryan Kent from Liverpool and this summer, Gerrard is reportedly looking to bring in Curtis Jones on a season-long loan deal.
