Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera joined the club from Athletic Bilbao in 2014 but since then the player has endured a mixed time at the club.

The Spaniard has always been the second string player ever since his move to Old Trafford and he has never been able to get a consistent amount of game time at one go.

And up until the first half of the season, it was believed that Man United have no interest in keeping Ander Herrera.

The midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season and reports had it that the club do not want to provide him with a new deal.

But the 29-year-old has always maintained that he is not thinking of a new contract and is just focusing on his current form.

Now though with the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskajer, the whole scenario has changed for Ander Herrera.

Ander Herera along with Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba have featured almost regularly under the caretaker boss and it seems his performances have impressed the manager.

According to the Sun, Man United have decided to provide Ander Herrera with a new three-year deal.

An Old Trafford source told The Sun: “Ander is now ready to stay here after talks have been slow originally.

“The club have made it clear to him they want him to stay. They don’t want him walking away on a free.

“He has a young family and is settled in the area. Ander is also really popular with the fans.

“It won’t be too far different to the wages and deal he is on now. Everything looks to be heading into the right direction.”

Ander Herrera has always maintained that he has his heart at Manchester United and the midfielder will be more than happy to put pen on paper to a new deal.

And some rumours claim that the club might hand him the captain’s armband next season – if he can keep up his good performances for the rest of the season.
