Manchester United could suffer a major setback as Casemiro is now an injury doubt for their match against Real Betis, as per ESPN (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Brazilian has been the backbone for Man United this season but he seems to have picked up a knock right Betis come to town. According to the reports, he picked up the injury during the loss to Liverpool and is now running the risk of missing out on Thursday.
Casemiro will be assessed by the club’s medical staff before the game which indicates he will have to go through a late fitness test.
The ex-Real Madrid man has played in 35 matches across all competitions for Manchester United and every time he’s featured, United have looked like a top-class team. Everyone thought he was coming to England for a well-paid holiday but the midfielder has rightly shown why he has been one of the best defensive midfielders in the world for several years.
If Casemiro is not available for selection then McTominay or Sabitzer will play in the holding midfielder’s role.
Betis are not the strongest of sides so either of these two can do a good job but Erik ten Hag will badly want his best player to feature in the team in a tricky European tie.
