Fraser Forster is surplus to the requirements at Southampton which is why he spent the 2019-20 season out on loan to Scottish side Celtic FC.

Forster had really impressed during his time in the Premiership which is why Neil Lennon wanted him back at the club for the 2020-21 season as well.

But recently the Bhoys were dealt with a huge blow as reports suggested that Chelsea might be looking to sign the 32-year-old keeper as the possible replacement to Kepa Arrizabalaga.

A report in Football Insider had claimed: “Chelsea are keeping tabs on Southampton goalkeeper and prime Celtic summer target Fraser Forster, Football Insider understands.

“The Premier League giants are assessing the giant keeper amid doubts over his future at St Mary’s Stadium.

“Southampton are set to listen to offers for Forster, 32, this summer and a recruitment source has told Football Insider that Chelsea are among the many clubs interested.”

Now as per fresh reports, the Blues are set to withdraw their interest from Fraser Forster as they look to sign Jan Oblak from Atletico Madrid.

Oblak is one of the best keepers in world football right now and Chelsea are clearly looking to spend big in order to bring in a new keeper.

We are not yet clear if Atletico are willing to part ways with their keeper or not but this is indeed great news for Celtic since they are once again the favourites in signing Fraser Forster in the coming months.

If Chelsea are serious about signing Oblak then they will surely withdraw interest in the Southampton man meaning the 32-year-old will be heading back to Parkhead next season.

The Bhoys might not be able to pay the full transfer value which is why they should be looking for another loan arrangement.
