Premier League side Manchester United could be on the verge of signing Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes, according to various reports circulating in Europe.

The 22-year-old has been the subject of interest from Everton for a couple of months now but recently Man United seem to have jumped the queue and are currently the frontrunners in signing him.

According to journalist Emanuele Cammaroto(via Sport Witness), Man United are confident of signing Gabriel Magalhaes and a possible deal could be struck pretty soon.

The report claims: “Over in Italy, journalist Emanuele Cammaroto has been speaking to Napoli Magazine about the player’s situation.

“He has things a little differently, claiming the Serie A side have offered €22m, and that Manchester United’s bid stands at €27m plus a further €2m in bonuses.

“For the English club, agreement from both Gabriel and Lille could arrive ‘in the next few days’.”

Are Man United actually close to signing Gabriel Magalhaes?

The report also goes on to add that Lille might be using the name of Manchester United in order to force the other interested clubs like Everton to make an inflated bid, especially since they have a history of doing that.

Sport Witness adds: “Despite all of that, there’s a chance Lille are throwing United’s name in to try and pressure others. Similar has happened before with the French club, most notably with Nicolas Pepe and Victor Osimhen, and it wouldn’t be a shock if that’s the case this time.

“Gabriel’s situation has been dragging on for months, with several claims, over an extended period, that he’ll imminently make a decision on his future.”

Apart from Manchester United and Everton, clubs like Napoli have also been heavily linked with the 22-year-old centre-back. And with three years still left on his current contract, we do not think, the Ligue 1 side will let Gabriel Magalhaes leave so easily.
