Premier League clubs Wolves and Newcastle United are interested in signing Gonzalo Higuain from Juventus this summer – as per the Express.

Higuain played for Chelsea from January of 2019 till June of the same year when he moved to Stamford Bridge on loan from the Turin outfit. But his time in England was not particularly eventful which is why the Blues chose to send him back to the Serie A in the summer.

This season he has been playing under his former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri in Italy but has failed to impress, scoring just five times in 23 league matches so far.

The report in the Express claims: “Chelsea flop Gonzalo Higuain could be offered another crack at the Premier League with Newcastle United and Wolves both interested.

“Juventus are keen to offload the former Real Madrid hit-man this summer and both Newcastle poised for a Saudi takeover and Wolves are keen.”

Will Gonzalo Higuain snub a move to the PL?

Gonzalo Higuain did not enjoy the best of times in the Premier League and we doubt if the 32-year-old will risk taking up yet another challenge in England.

The forward has entered the final phase of his playing career and recently he hinted that he could return to Argentina and rejoin River Plate – the club where he got his initial break.

He told TyC Sports: “River are a club that gave me everything, from letting me develop to Real Madrid buying me, but right now I don’t know what’s going to happen. My head is here [in Turin].

“[Marcelo] Gallardo’s team are very exciting, they have quality, strength, everything.

“The truth that you watch them and their number nine gets many chances. Clearly someone who played for River before will watch that team, see themselves there and say, ‘how nice’. Gallardo has caught everyone’s eyes and he’s earned it. I’d think about going back to River to retire.”

This might not be the perfect time for him to retire but we are pretty sure Gonzalo Higuain will think a thousand times before making a return to the Premier League.

Also, Newcastle United should have money to splash in the summer but we doubt if spending it on a 32-year-old is the right way to go about it. Wolves, on the other hand, have been linked with talents such as Benfica’s Carlos Vinicius so naturally Nuno Espirito Santo will not be too eager to bring in a player who has not been at the top of his game this season.
