According to Team Talk, Real Madrid are interested in signing Brentford forward Ivan Toney.
Ivan Toney is a subject of interest for Premier League clubs Arsenal and Chelsea but it looks like Madrid have also joined the transfer race for the 27-year-old.
Real Madrid quite surprisingly lost Karim Benzema to the Saudi Pro League during the summer and this exit was so sudden that Carlo Ancelotti has not been able to bring in a replacement.
Madrid have been linked with players like Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland and Ivan Toney seems to be the latest addition to the Los Blancos’ wishlist. Toney is currently suspended for breaching betting rules but is going to return action to first-team action in January.
Will Ivan Toney going to snub EPL interest and join Real Madrid?
The fact that a club like Real Madrid are interested in Ivan Toney is great news for Brentford but it’s equally bad news for Chelsea and Arsenal.
The two London sides are yet to make contact with the Bees but they are very much interested in the England international.
Arsenal want Toney as the long-term successor to Gabriel Jesus while Chelsea want him to lead the line for the second half of the season. However, if Real Madrid are serious about signing Toney then it’s a big blow for Chelsea and Arsenal.
Not many players dare to reject an offer from Real Madrid and because Madrid do not have a major centre-forward in his squad, Toney will get regular playing time under Ancelotti. The striker is in talks over a new contract at Brentford but at the same time, he is open to new opportunities which is great news for all the suitors.
Arsenal and Chelsea wish to sign the 27-year-old at the start of the new year and that might be the only advantage these two sides have because we are not sure if Madrid are targeting Ivan Toney for January or for the summer window.
Carlo Ancelotti’s team are also eyeing Mbappe and Haaland so we think he will want to wait until the end of the season to see if Madrid can get either one of them. We have a feeling Ivan Toney is more of a backup plan rather than a priority target for the La Liga side.
Brentford are asking for around £100 million for their centre-forward and even if Toney wants to join Real Madrid, the Los Blancos would much rather spend money on players like Mbappe or even Victor Osimhen.
