Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino inspired his side to a superb win in the Champions League semi-final knocking out Ajax.
The Lilywhites put on a superb display especially during the second leg but that win came at a huge cost.
Mauricio Pochettino has been handed a suspended one-match touchline ban from European competitions after a late kick-off during the second leg clash vs Ajax.
This meant the Argentine would be absent from the dugout when his side take on Liverpool in the Champions League final at the Metropolitano.
The touchline ban was a huge boost for Liverpool given that Pochettino was the key to why Spurs managed to knockout Ajax.
Yes, the likes of Lucas Moura and Fernando Llorente did the damage on the pitch but it was the genius of Mauricio Pochettino which helped swing the game in his team’s favour.
During the second leg of the match, Spurs were very poor during the first half but then their manager made a few changes and tweaks at half time and during the second period, the North London club absolutely dominated the game.
And the absence of Mauricio Pochettino from the touchline during the final meant that relaying information to the Spurs side would most certainly take some time which could have given a clear advantage to the Anfield outfit.
Sadly though, the joy for Liverpool has been short-lived.
As per Reuters, “Pochettino’s punishment — deferred for a probation period of one year — means the Argentine will be on the touchline when Tottenham face Liverpool in an all-English Champions League final on June 1 in Madrid.”
And it looks like Mauricio Pocettino is not the only person who will return to the dugout for the Champions League final.
Some reports have claimed that striker Harry Kane will also be fit in time and there is a huge possibility that the England international might start the game on the bench – coming on during the second half.
