Premier League side Arsenal might be about to suffer a major setback in their pursuit of Celtic’s 22-year-old forward Odsonne Edouard – as per reports in Spain.
The striker has been in stellar form ever since he moved to Scotland from PSG in 2018 and this season he has netted 21 goals and provided 12 assists in just 27 Premiership matches.
And as per the rumours, La Liga giants Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on the forward and Zinedine Zidane is not totally against the idea of signing him during the summer.
Defensa Central said, as reported by Glasgow Live: “Real Madrid are aware of the great interest that the footballer has generated in England, mainly, and in Europe.
“According to what Central Defense has learned, Zidane would not disapprove of the signing. The footballer is very young, 22-years-old and has a lot of projection.
“In addition, in France they see him as a footballer with the level to play in the national team and his price is not excessive, 25 million euros.”
Will Odsonne Edouard snub Arsenal and head to Real Madrid?
The striker has always expressed his ambition of playing in England but if Real Madrid come calling we doubt if he can resist the temptation.
At Arsenal, Odsonne Edouard will undoubtedly get more game time but at the Bernabeu, the Frenchman will not only get Champions League football but will also get to work under his own countryman Zinedine Zidane.
Also, at best Celtic will want around £35 million in exchange for the 22-year-old which should not be any major concern for a person like Florentino Perez.
Celtic obviously do not care where Odsonne Edouard ends up and will most certainly look to sell him to the highest bidder which in this situation is obviously Real Madrid.
