Real Madrid might be planning to make a move for Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves according to a report by Fichajes.

Neves has been one of the standout performers for Wolves in recent years and he’s been on the transfer radar of both Manchester United as well as Liverpool for some time now.

But if this latest buzz is true then both the Premier League sides could miss out on the 24-year-old since Real Madrid are a club who have all the tricks up their sleeves to make this deal work.

Why are three major European clubs interested in Neves?

Ruben Neves joined Wolves in 2017 from FC Porto and in these previous few seasons, the Portuguese has turned himself into one of the best defensive midfielders in England.

Liverpool have several ageing midfielders amongst their ranks so it makes perfect sense for Jurgen Klopp to try and bring in a player like Neves.

Man United have still not managed to sign a world-class defensive midfielder which is why Ole keeps on using Fred and McTominay in that role and there’s a likelihood that someone like Ruben Neves can finally solve this problem.

United tried to sign him during the summer as well but they eventually could not get a deal done in time.

Like Liverpool and Man United, Real Madrid are also floating on the same boat with Casemiro set to enter his 30s in February and Luka Modric playing in the final phase of his professional career. So Ancelotti also wants a long-term replacement to these players.

Neves has played in 11 Premier League matches this season and as per Fotmob, he has a rating of 7.46 which makes it pretty obvious why so many big clubs want him on board.

Will Ruben Neves end up joining Real Madrid?

Man United are the club which will offer him guaranteed starts since they do not have any top defensive midfielders amongst their ranks while Liverpool are the club to join if Neves wants to win silverwares immediately.

Man United are in a mess right now so we don’t see the midfielder joining them unless they offer him a crazy wage structure and at Liverpool, he will have to fight off players like Henderson, Fabinho, James Milner and Thiago if he wants a regular starting role.

This means Real Madrid will be best suited for him in terms of glory as well as game time.

Madrid might be in a rebuilding phase but they are still one of the favourites to win the La Liga this season. And if Carlo Ancelotti can sort things out quickly then they will be challenging for the Champions League in no time at all.

Also, Wolves would much rather see one of their key assets join a Spanish side rather than send him out to a direct league rival like Manchester United or Liverpool.
