AFC Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser is set to be a free agent at the end of next month and up until now, North London clubs Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur were eager to land him in the summer.

But now according to a report in the Metro, Spurs boss Jose Mourinho is not too keen to make a move for the 26-year-old despite the possibility of working on a shoe-string budget.

The report quotes The Athletic saying: “Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser is not a ‘priority’ signing for either Arsenal or Tottenham in the summer window, according to reports.

“The 26-year-old is set to leave the Cherries on a free transfer with his contract due to expire at the end of the season.

“Given the financial uncertainty over the coronavirus crisis, swap deals and signing free agents could be the order the of business for many Premier League clubs in the next transfer window.

“However, despite Arsenal and Spurs previously showing interest in Fraser, according to The Athletic, the experienced winger is no longer viewed as a top target.”

Is Ryan Fraser all set to join Arsenal?

With Spurs seemingly pulling out of the transfer race, it looks like Arsenal are now the frontrunners in signing the winger during the summer.

This is not the first time the Gunners will try and sign him as they came agonisingly close last year as well.

But now this deal will be perfect for Mikel Arteta as Ryan Fraser is not going to cost a penny which means if Aubameyang was to leave, the Arsenal boss can use the current Cherries man as a like-to-like replacement on the left-wing.

This season, Fraser has managed only one goal and four assists in 28 Premier League matches so far which has prompted many to claim that he might not be the right signing for Arteta.

But in the 18-19 season, Ryan Fraser was easily one of the best forwards in the league, scoring seven and assisting 14 goals in 38 matches. And if the North London club can get even half of that talent for free, Mikel Arteta will sleep a much better man.
