Man United will take on Manchester City in the Premier League on Wednesday and there are reports that Mason Greenwood might just get his first ever start.

For those of you who are not familiar with Mason Greenwood, then he is the United academy lad who is currently setting the U23s on fire.

The 17-year-old has been on song this season and so far the centre-forward has managed to score 23 goals in just 26 appearances.

Out of these 23 goals have come while playing for the U18s while two have been scored in the Premier League 2.

Mason Greenwood has already proved his worth and everyone expects the player to be heavily involved in the first team squad next season.

But now reports are claiming that Solskjaer might be thinking of handing the youngster his first ever start during the Manchester Derby.

The manager is clearly not pleased with how his players had performed during the 4-0 loss to Everton and playing Mason Greenwood will most certainly send out a message to all the first team players that they are not indispensable.

Speaking after the Everton match, Ole had said:

We have got to apologise to the fans,

That performance was not good enough for a Manchester United team – from me to the players.

”We know we let the fans and the club down. That performance is difficult to describe because it was so bad. They beat us on all the basics.

We were beaten on all the ingredients you need, added to your talent, today. As I said last week as well, there is no place to hide on the pitch. It was 85 minutes before we had a shot on target. It’s not good enough. We know that.

Mason Greenwood is easily one of the brightest talents that the Man United academy has to offer and just maybe these are the kinds of players which Solskjaer needs right now.

Someone who can play without any fear and burden on his shoulder.
